Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage - Zambia - Africa
Pan troglodytes
Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage is recognised as the worlds largest dedicated sanctuary for orphaned chimps. As chimpanzees are not indigenous to Zambia it is not possible to free-release them locally, therefore 2, 000 acres of forest land has been designated to the chimps.

Can you hear me now? The ultimate long-distance call from the Chimfunshi Chimp Reserve in Zambia!
EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this photo print, a single chimpanzee takes center stage as it sits perched on a branch, engaging in an animated conversation. With its mouth wide open and lips forming distinct shapes, it seems to be pant-hooting or calling out to its fellow chimps. Located within the vast expanse of the Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage, this reserve is not just any sanctuary - it holds the prestigious title of being the world's largest dedicated haven for orphaned chimps. As these incredible creatures are not native to Zambia, they cannot be released into the wild locally. Hence, 2,000 acres of lush forest land have been specially designated for their care and protection. The photograph captures a rare moment of communication among these intelligent primates. It reminds us that even though we may speak different languages, our ability to connect through vocalizations transcends barriers. So next time you're struggling with your phone signal or trying to get through a long-distance call, remember this remarkable image from M. Watson at Ardea Wildlife Pets Environment. And if you're ever lucky enough to visit Zambia's breathtaking nature reserves and national parks in Southern Central Africa, keep an eye out for these fascinating apes who share our planet!
